Sprint: How to Solve Big Problems and Test New Ideas in Just Five Days (or 1 hour)

The Design Sprint is a five-day process for solving problems and testing new ideas. Invented at Google by Jake Knapp, perfected with more than 150 startups at GV, then shared with the world in the bestselling book Sprint. https://www.thesprintbook.com/

An integral part of our Unit 1 collaborative work has resulted from a group work method suggested by our tutor Indira Knight. We were very impressed by the quality of the work generated in a very short time, without the usual frictions and delays that newly formed heterogeneous groups usually experience in ‘regular’ brainstorming sessions.

We’ve tested the method numerous times throughout the unit and it has proved extremely successful in delivering strong concepts/ideas and prototypes within very limited timeframes of less than 60 minutes for a group of six participants.

The big idea with the Design Sprint is to build and test a prototype in just five days. You’ll take a small team, clear the schedule for a week, and rapidly progress from problem to tested solution using a proven step-by-step checklist. It’s like fast-forwarding into the future so you can see how customers react before you invest all the time and expense of building a real product.
